SCARS-Second Chance After Release Services

About

Second Chance After Release Services (SCARS) is dedicated to empowering formerly incarcerated individuals to achieve successful, sustainable re-entry into society. We accomplish this by providing structured transitional housing, comprehensive vocational training, essential life skills development, and personalized case management.

Our Programs

A Real Second Chance. A Stronger Community.

SCARS (Second Chance After Release Services) provides formerly incarcerated individuals with the essential housing, job training, financial empowerment, and life skills necessary to become a sustainable, and law-abiding citizenship.

Structured Housing & Stability

Transitional Housing Description: We provide immediate, safe, and stable housing upon release. Stability is the foundation of transformation. Residents are placed in a highly structured, sober environment that enforces accountability, establishes positive routines, and eliminates the chaos that often leads to recidivism.

Professional Vocational & Job Training

Vocational Training & Employment Description: We invest in high-demand, marketable skills—the key to long-term independence. Our program offers industry-recognized certifications (e.g., construction, food service, warehousing), resume development, and direct job placement assistance, ensuring residents transition from job-seeking to career-building.

Life Skills & Personal Support

Life Skills & Case Management Description: We address the whole person by providing crucial non-financial investments. This pillar covers essential life skills (budgeting, emotional regulation, conflict resolution) and pairs each resident with a dedicated Case Manager to navigate individualized barriers, including legal obligations, healthcare access, and family reunification.

SCARS: Second Chance After Release Services

Executive Summary:

SCARS is a non-profit organization dedicated to dramatically reducing recidivism by providing comprehensive, evidence-based re-entry services to formerly incarcerated individuals. Our model is built on four integrated pillars—Housing, Workforce, Financial Literacy, and Life Coaching—to ensure sustainable economic stability and successful social integration. By focusing on measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like job retention and FICO score improvement, SCARS offers a high return on investment (ROI) to the community by turning potential liabilities into contributing citizens.

A New Blueprint: My Life After SCARS

SCARS didn’t just teach me coping mechanisms; it fundamentally shifted my perspective. I learned that a scar isn’t a deficiency; it’s a blueprint. It shows exactly where I was broken and exactly how I rebuilt myself, stronger than before.
